Under 10 Blues vs Achilles ‘B’
No rain, just the usual frost and....some funny hot thing shining in the sky....god knows what it is – perhaps there’s been a second coming ? No pitch inspections required this week the pitch was declared playable and so another visit to Sprites Lane School saw IVR Blues up against our friends from Achilles ‘B’. The only pre-match incident of note involved Norreen’s arrival at Sprites Lane – no gossip here, but she didn’t do anything to enhance the reputation of Lady drivers.....I recommend parking elsewhere if you see the burgundy Vauxhall approaching !! During the pre-match warm up we had a proper football incident – Charlie was injured....surely we are a proper football club now ! The team lined with ASHLEY in goal, TYLER and MARK at the back with KEELAN, PHOEBE and SAM in midfield and JOSH up front. TYLER stepped in to a defensive position following the unfortunate injury to CHARLIE. The Blues started really slowly and Achilles were comfortably in control of the first few exchanges, although to be fair MARK and TYLER were coping well with the lively Achilles forwards. Slowly but surely IVR got into the match, but went behind when a good move by Achilles saw a good finish by Achilles. This seemed to surprise IVR into action and for the next 10 minutes we completely dominated the game – and when you consider that Achilles went top of the League after today’s match, then the boys should be proud of their efforts !! PHOEBE began to look really lively on the right and clearly had the beating of her opposite number, SAM was combining well with JOSH who was looking really lively up front. The game was turning into a good footballing contest between two evenly matched teams. While IVR were on top we needed to take advantage and one good attacking move saw an Achilles defender turn the ball in to his own net for the equaliser – 1-1 !! Surely IVR would go on to take the lead ?? And we should have done....one move in particular saw a great cross from PHOEBE somehow missed by 3 IVR players, when it looked too easy to score. Other chances came and went and the Coaches hoped we wouldn’t regret our wasteful finishing..... Half time – 1-1 The second half saw LIAM introduced on the left. KEELAN continued his good form from last week and was looking lively in the centre of midfield, whilst MARK and TYLER were coping with most that Achilles could throw at us. However, a coupls of quick goals by Achilles killed off the contest, although the guys never gave up. TOM gave his usual all action display and could easily have had a couple of goals today. He was on the end of a good move between SAM and KEELAN that saw the ball fall to TOM in the box, but his shot was blocked. We always have a good close game of football with Achilles and so it was proving this morning. KEELAN and SAM combined well late in the game and a good shot by KEELAN was well saved by the Achilles keeper. PHOEBE worked really hard today and gave one of her best performances for IVR today. Late on MARK stepped out of defence well and joined in the play in midfield and helped to create chances late on. At the back TYLER was tenacious and made a number of telling challenges or blocks to prevent goal scoring opportunities for Achilles. Today, everyone played really well and the score is not a true reflection of the amount of play the IVR had. Unfortunately at the moment we can’t seem to score, which puts too much pressure of the defence. Had we taken a couple of the chances we created today we could easily have run out comfortable winners of this match today – but it was not to be. Finally, thanks to Achilles for being good hosts – it’s always good to play Achilles as coaches and parents are always friendly and welcoming. Also, thanks to the referee for handling the match in a fair manner today – good luck for the rest of the season and we hope to see you all at Gresham’s again soon. Final Score - 4-1 to Achilles Man of the Match – TYLER HOLLAND – an excellent game in defence ……special mention to the rest of the team though well played everyone..... Training Tuesday has been switched and is at Kesgrave 7 til 8 and our next game is Sunday 14th March at home to Moreton Hall (re-arranged from 28th February).

U9 Match Report versus Stowupland Falcons A.
Another away day was in store for the toffees as we headed up the A14 on a miserable day to face Stow Falcons A. Dan and I once again called in for the Double Bacon and Egg McMuffin, with a hash brown and a coffee to wash it down before turning the wipers on full for the drive to Stowupland. We were welcomed with a torrential downpour and one more than one occasion, I had to check my car had not decided to swim for cover. We exercised a long warm up in a bid to get the players as warm as possible to play the game.
The game started relatively slowly on a large pitch and both sides had a number of throw ins with the odd goal kick. It wasn’t long into the game before a neat passage of play resulted in a through ball for a Stow forward player who struck right footed superbly from outside the box, across Harrison in goal to find the far corner. Unfortunately we were unable to regain composure and Stow quickly doubled their lead. However, as has often happened this season, the players refused to allow their heads to drop and Ben Savage had two excellent runs down the left which almost lead to a goal on both occasions. As Rangers looked like finding a way back into the game, a clearance fell into the path of a Stow player who finished well into the roof of the net from outside the area.
The half time team talk was a brief encouragement and to inform the players of the changes as both teams were keen to get the second period underway immediately as the weather had worsened. Rain briefly turned to snow and this gave the game a chance to settle down and some nice moves found their way to Jack Garn who had gone up front and he nearly pulled a goal back. Stow were able to take advantage of the mud bath when the toffees were unable to clear and found themselves kicking up mud and a Stow front player was able to slot home. The lead was extended shortly after when the ball took a different course on the slippery surface to deceive Harrison. However, the Toffees continued to soldier on and their effort was rewarded when a chance fell to Jack Garn at the back post who netted. Well done!!
The match ended and after the quickest team talk of the season, everyone made a dash for their cars!
Well done to everyone involved in the game!!!! Not great conditions for a spectacle!

Bury Tigers Vs Ivrfc U12s Blue
We had a 11:30 k.o today and for the second time in 3 weeks we found ourselves away to BURY TIGERS who are one of the best footballing teams in our league, and having lost a thrilling game in the league 2 weeks ago Ste Darren and the boys were looking forward to avenge our previous loss.
Unfortunately it looks like we might be without LEWIS for a while as it looks as though he has broken his toe on his other foot get well soon LEWIS, although the arrival of SAM to the team is a great boost.
The game started with Bury Tigers looking very dangerous controlling most of the play in the first 10 minutes resulting in them going 1-0 ahead from a corner, with a bit more communication on the pitch this easy goal could’ve been prevented.
After going behind the boys sparked into life and started to play some really nice football nobody more so than BRAD who had a rare start up front with TOM and took his chance with both hands and relished in the challenge, after a few half chances BRAD battling upfront managed to find JAY in the area who with very little room managed to muscle his way into a bit of space to find the back of the net 1-1 well done JAY game on.
HALF TIME 1-1
Coming in at half time 1-1 we were all fairly confident as the power seemed to have shifted to our side and having made our subs with JORDAN now up front with BRAD, TOM dropping in centre mid in place of KYLE and JACK coming on for LASTY on the left and REECE coming on for HOWSEY on right back we were looking to start the second half the way we finished the first.
The second half the boys really had their tails up and before too long BRAD found his way through on goal and with a composed finish put the boys in a deserved lead 1-2.
The boys got a real taste for goal and again it wasn’t long before TOM put on a great show to grab 2 goals for himself 1 with a beautiful free kick and the other a typical TOM goal given the keeper no chance 1-4 RANGERS, to top off another magnificent midfield performance LEE struck what has to be a strong contender for goal of the season leathering the ball from the half way line over everybody’s heads leaving the keeper stretching as far as possible but to no avail, UNBELEIVABLE goal !!!!!!! 1-5 RANGERS.
With about 10 minutes to go BURY somehow managed to score their 2nd of the day, 2-5.
There was some awesome football being played by the RANGERS BOYS, every single player worked their sock off and played a major part in the game its great to see a half of football when it all seems to just click.
There was some great performances from all the boys none more so than BRAD although not far behind him was SAM who formed a great partnership with the ever dependable ANDREW, JAY who seems to be getting better and better, and TOM who’s quality always shows in a match well done boys.
Well done to BRAD who got man of the match for a great performance upfront.
Well done to all the boys you should all be very proud of yourselves as both Darren Ste and the parents are!!
Training this week is KESGRAVE 6-7
We are away to NEEDHAM on the 28th FEB details will follow in the week.

Under 12s Whites v Walsham u12s
Ipswich Valley Rangers B v Walsham Le Willows
As prediticed this game was going to be a hard fought match. and it started from the off as neither side giveing an inch, as the game settled down we had most of the play and after some neat football down the left from Freddie, who crossed into the box,the ball found its way to Chase who hit an unstoppable shot into the top corner. Just before half time Elliot Curtis was involved in a challenge in which he was a bit late,He was spoken to by the referee, but reacted with a very postive attitude.
half-time 1-0
The weather was getting worse at the start of the second half with rain sleet and snow followed by hale stones making the pitch heavy. The boys were sent back out with their tails up and determined not to let walsham back into the game. A scappy ten minutes was followed by a good team goal with Chase Holland on hand to score his second of the game. Walsham got a penalty with ten minutes to go which they scored. But again to the boys spirit and fight we increased our lead with seven minutes to go. Chase holland completed his hat-trick great finish again given the keeper no chance.
Full Time 3-1.
I must say all the boys wanted to win this game and not one player let any of his team mates down. A GREAT TEAM EFFORT. well done we are proud of you and you are one of the reasons why our club is going places.
Hope you are all dry and warm now, see you training tuesday 6-7 claydon.
